Halloween (1978) | Review & Score

About: Fifteen years after murdering his sister on Halloween night 1963, Michael Myers escapes from a mental hospital and returns to the small town of Haddonfield, Illinois to kill again.

One of the best slasher films of all time.

HALLOWEEN is a John Carpenter masterpiece that set the tone for many slasher films to come after.

It's a well crafted, well acted, knife wielding fun time that has lasted in the memories and hearts of genre fans to this day, older and younger. It was a film of its time and holds up beautifully to this day.

Carpenter and company hit the nail on the head with Halloween and it's since become the staple of slasher films and has been a pop culture icon in the process. With Jamie Lee Curtis' iconic scream queen role of Laurie Strode, she became everyone's favorite and most likable 'final girl'. She's the most recognizable.

All in all, Halloween is a fun movie with some great frights and an astonishing atmospheric thrill ride for any genre fans out there. Curtis has a great screen presence and I can't not mention the presence of one Donald Pleasence. He is an icon and his battles with Michael Myers are uncanny and fun.
