Terrifier

About: A maniac named Art the Clown terrorizes two friends on Halloween and everyone who gets in his way.

I've never sat down and actually talked about TERRIFIER, so here we are.

In light of the release for TERRIFIER 3 on October 11 of this year, I'm going back and reviewing one of the most popular horror outings of the 2010's and 2020's, Damien Leone's TERRIFIER.

At first watch, I didn't think too much of the film itself and the character of ART THE CLOWN. But as time progressed, I started watching them more recently and really come to release... I kinda get what the fuss is about. Art isn't anywhere near as compelling, on paper, but with David Howard Thornton behind the makeup, he makes Art one of the scariest horror villains of the last century.

Once the second film rolled around and it all picked up even more steam, I knew us horror fans really had something to sink out teeth into. Art the Clown is legit and one of the more compelling and scary horror villains in a long time.

2016's TERRIFIER is based on a short film from Leone, that I've actually never seen myself, I've only seen the original Art the Clown in HALLOW'S EVE and these two films of Leone's. I do prefer Thornton behind the makeup, his mannerisms, silent stature and facial expressions make Art fun to watch from every angle.

It's a fun slasher, with a ton of gore and a very quiet scary nature about it. Everything works and the more you go back and watch the film, the more it pops off at you and sets a nice Halloween tone. It's scary, creepy, gory and actually has some good humor with it, when you read between the lines a little bit.

If you love GORE and SLASHERS, you will dig Art and his gut-wrenching antics.
