V/H/S Beyond

About: Six bloodcurdling tapes unleash horror in a sci-fi inspired hellscape, pushing the boundaries of fear and suspense.

V/H/S BEYOND isn't a new favorite in the ongoing horror franchise for me, but it gets some solid points for it's creativity and format.

Beyond takes a more documentary approach for the series and kicks off with a BANGER segment called 'Stork', which is pretty terrifying and gory and beautiful setup for whats to come. Unfortunately, a lot of the middle segments are a rather muddled mess. Not very scary, but creative nonetheless.

I'd say my favorite segments are 'Fur Babies' and 'Stork' overall. They're both gory, well acted (especially 'Fur Babies') and two of the very best segments within the last few previous film entries. I enjoyed both of those. 'Fur Babies' was written and directed by Justin and Christian Long. Justin is a very well known horror actor and one of the most versatile and talented artists of any generation.

I thought, overall, every segment was well acted, but a few segments didn't do much for me. I do give this film A LOT of creativity points however. It's a solid entry in the V/H/S franchise and it does add a nice touch and slight difference in setup from previous entries -- which I admire kindly.

If you're a fan of the franchise, you'll be excited and rightfully so for the latest entry in this fan favorite anthology series. I also want to point out the directorial debut of Kate Siegel, who is widely known for her collaborations with husband, Mike Flanagan. Her finale segment 'Stowaway' is a solid debut for an extremely versatile and talented artist. Flanagan also lends his writing credit to the segment as well.
