X | Review & Score

About: In 1979, a group of young filmmakers set out to make an adult film in rural Texas, but when their reclusive, elderly hosts catch them in the act, the cast find themselves fighting for their lives.

One of the absolute best horror films of 2022.

Ti West's X is one of the more appealing horror outings for the modern era of filmmaking. West brings his signature flair, along with a few memorable performances from Mia Goth and Brittany Snow.

X covers many grounds in the genre, while also bringing in a different style than what we've been accustomed to these days. Goth is excellent as Maxine and Pearl. Goth has a certain vibe to her that she could just become completely unhinged at any moment, and with Pearl she has a silent rage that musters out incredibly uncomfortably in all sorts of great ways.

Brittany Snow is the other solid performance in my eyes. Snow encapsulates Bobby-Lynne with that southern belle charm that brings you in and slaps you dry with her wit, beauty and sassiness. Snow was the perfect choice for this role. Plus.. she can fucking sing, boy. WOO.

X is a theater experience and if you saw it on the big screen, I'm with you. It was beautiful.
