Jeepers Creepers | Review & Score

About: A brother and sister driving home through isolated countryside for spring break encounter a flesh-eating creature which is in the midst of its ritualistic eating spree.

Every 23rd spring, for 23 days, it gets to eat.

Arguably the greatest horror film of the 2000s. Victor Salva's JEEPERS CREEPERS tore its way through the late Summer into Fall movie theaters back in 2001, scaring the shit out of people for years to come.

It's not only such a classic horror movie now, but it has one of the most original villains in horror history. The Creeper, who is portrayed by the utterly talented Jonathan Breck, is the best horror villain/creature to hit the big screen since the Creature from Black Lagoon.

This film features the best opening scene of any film ever. The first 20 minutes of Jeepers Creepers features a car chase scene down an isolated countryside highway. Now, you wouldn't think much of it being just a car chase scene and all, but what this movie does with a solid and scary score, acting, and one of the creepiest vehicles known to man is quite impressive (and terrifying).

The film also happens to have a terrific finale. Overall, Jeepers Creepers wins me over with a solid cast, terrifying villain, sharp pacing and tremendous opening scene. It's a scary piece of canvas that will haunt you loooong after the end credits roll. Credit to Victor Salva for creating such an iconic idea of a horror film and creature/villain for that matter.
