Scream VI | Review & Score

About: In the next installment, the survivors of the Ghostface killings leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter in New York City.

SCREAM VI wont raise the bar by any means as far as the Scream franchise goes, but its another fair entry into one of the most popular slasher franchises in history.

I still wish Stu would have returned, but oh well. I miss Neve Campbell's presence, but the sixth installment doesn't come off needing the Sidney character in any way, shape or form. Melissa Barrera holds down the fort with a solid supporting cast, including the returning Hayden Panettiere as Kirby, who is now an FBI agent. Go figure.

Panettiere is a nice breath of fresh returning air. Her performance is great, along with another killer performance from Barrera. Barrera fans will 'scream' from the mountain tops for her and sometimes I don't blame them. She brings the vulnerability, yet tough as nails bravery that makes Sidney Prescott one of the greatest finale girls of all time. My personal favorite final girl, btw.

Jenna Ortega returns as Tara, Samantha's sister, but her performance here isn't anything to write home about honestly. I really thought she would bring her Scream 5 badassery with her, but the focus was more on Samantha. Rightfully so, but still... Tara is awesome. Let her shine some more.

The third act fell a bit flat for me... but it didn't take away my overall enjoyment of the final product.

3/5
