Guy Ritchie's The Covenant | Review & Score

About: During the war in Afghanistan, a local interpreter risks his own life to carry an injured sergeant across miles of grueling terrain.

Definitely one of Guy Ritchie's more daring attempts. Especially in the last 20 years or so. What Ritchie does here is impressive in a way that shows how much of a subtle filmmaker he is. THE COVENANT isn't rich and lathery as most Ritchie films, but it's got enough braun and glory to win you over.

Anchored by two bolstering and gritty performances from Jake Gyllenhaal and Dar Salim, Guy Ritchie's The Covenant is a testament of man, with a great splash of bravery, soul and an incredible amount of depth. Sounds like a Ritchie flick, right? It's really good. Like, really good. So good in fact that it's already a top ten of the year for me, personally. Well crafted, great performances and very entertaining.
